This technology has made it possible to generate materials for health professionals in Chile in the midst of the health crisis. Nanotechnology is a discipline of materials science that studies the properties of matter on a very small scale. Metal particles such as gold, silver, zinc and titanium, among others, are capable of preventing infections from bacteria, fungi and protozoa. Applied to the current situation and in the search for alternatives to combat the coronavirus, researchers from the University of Chile discovered that copper nanoparticles can prevent Covid-19 infection. Today, health professionals could use this material in masks, which can be produced with a 3D printer.
